Centrally situated less than four miles from the heart of the main campus of the University of Illinois, The Arbours is an inviting enclave of quiet streets and cul de sacs, graced with mature trees. Mid-priced homes make up a pleasing range of architectural styles and spacious lots in various sizes. The neighborhood’s common areas are exceptional: 11 acres of landscaped green space, bound by a network of walking/biking paths, provide great places for children to play and for families to share time outside.
The Arbours is part of the Village of Savoy, a municipality that has among the lowest property taxes in the area. Located a few blocks south of Windsor Road and just east of Illinois Route 45 (Neil St./Dunlap Ave.), The Arbours is bounded to the west by Prospect Avenue and Ruppel Bike Path. To the south, five-acre Burwash Park features a ball diamond, a children’s play area with update-to-date equipment, tennis courts, covered picnic pavilions, and a sand volleyball court. Nearby Savoy Plaza – within walking distance of most homes in The Arbours – offers grocery and other retail shopping, restaurants and services, as well as the Savoy 16 movie theater complex. The U.S. Post Office is located approximately one mile to the south, off Route 45, as is the Savoy Recreation Center. Willard Airport is less than four miles and approximately seven minutes by car from The Arbours. The interchange for I-57 is also about four miles away.

Opened in 2005, the Savoy Recreation Center features a gymnasium, activity rooms and a walking track and offers programs for participants from toddlers to adults, including team sports, fitness classes, summer camps, pickleball and special events for kids. The MTD Yellow Route runs approximately every half-hour throughout the day from the Savoy Wal-Mart in the south, north though the University of Illinois campus and downtown Champaign, then on to Marketview Shopping Center and the Champaign Wal-Mart. The route runs through The Arbours along Lyndhurst Drive. A special morning route serves students attending Edison and Franklin middle schools and Central High School with additional pick-up points.
Located on land formerly belonging to the Burwash Farm, The Arbours was incorporated in 1973 as a place combining rustic serenity with convenience to city services. The inviting commons function as dry-retention basins, an innovative water-management system that was among the first of its kind in the state. The development comprises five subdivisions, each with a separate set of covenants. There are currently 182 households.
